Fribble Friday
“I have two brain cells left, and one of them is busy reminding me to buy toilet paper.” Diana Gabaldon
Okay, in my defense, Tuesday wasn’t a good day! I’d pulled a muscle in my back, therefore was in massive quantities of pain, had nothing written for my blog, and no idea what to write! Thanks to my bud Firgs’ great, and timely, to say the least, blog post that very day on Busting the Block, I finally figured out what to write, wrote it and did all the Photoshop work for the examples. The next day, my friend Nancy tells me she tried to comment (Blogger glitch with the word verification, near as I can tell) to tell about the “phantom floating arm”! That’s right, folks! My very own Photoshop Disaster! Whoo hoo! Maybe, given the circumstances, I can get a pass, just this once? Pretty please?
Allow me to do a somewhat lame, albeit late, correction:
Thanks, Nancy, for keeping me honest! Also, big love to you for letting me grumble, moan, [….], gripe, yesterday! It’s still not solved, still frustrated, but it’s better having purged!
Speaking of Blogger glitches, did everything Google screw up this week? By my count, gmail, Google Reader and this glitch on Blogger. Those were just the ones I noticed! Did they have a bad week, or what?
I’ve been trying out Safari 4 the past couple of days. Really, the only thing I don’t like about it is the fact that I can’t use my RoboForm on it. I’m totally RoboForm dependent. It’s sad, really. If I don’t have RF available, for whatever reason, I start to panic. Never mind that I also write all my passwords down in a book. Nope, RoboForm, or die! Viva la RoboForm! So not having it available in Safari’s a bummer. You can save passwords in Safari 4, though, so I’m not completely without resources. I love how fast Safari is, especially on sites like Ancestry.com, pulling up all those census form in the viewer…that’s another thing Safari hasn’t got, a plugin like Firefox to help you see the viewer correctly, but I can live with that. I love the way the “top sites” look! Makes me feel like I’m at the helm of the Enterprise and Scotty just flew through an iTunes Continuum thing…In other words, it’s wicked mad groovy, dude! It’s very Appley and shiny. I’m not sure I love the tabs. Don’t get me wrong, I love tabbed browsing! I’m just not sure I like where they are! However, their being at the very top of the browser does save real estate. I think my main problem is that my upper ObjectDock menu tab is up there, and I’m not moving it, so it’s really a problem of my own making. I actually like how simple the look of Safari is. My Firefox looks like Mardi Gras threw up on it. I love to customize…well, everything, pretty much! But Safari looks so, you know, Appley and shiny, that it doesn’t bother me for some reason. Safari is customizable, so if I ever get the “decorating” bug, I can waste a few hours of my life pimping it out, but for now, I like this. I’m still learning all the nifty bits in Safari, but I really like it, so far. While I’m not ready to totally give up my Firefox in all it’s tricked out glory, I am finding myself using Safari more everyday. I’m now using both browsers, each in separate monitors, to do my genealogy work. I’m able to find information on Ancestry.com, for instance, and input the information into a family tree without having to go back and forth, which was a big time eater in my daily work flow.
Addendum: I do seem to be having trouble uploading files on Safari. Have to investigate that, further…
I work with old. Old facts, old terms, old photos. You might say my business is old. So, I leave you with an old word…
Noceur- A person who stays up late. Use it in a sentence, today.
